HCA Healthcare Intensivist Services (formerly Intensive Care Consortium) is HCA’s solution to critical care delivery. It is a critical care group aimed at improving the quality of care for critically ill patients in the ICU. By implementing programs that provide immediate critical care for patients, Intensivist Services has been successful at reducing complication and mortality rates, lowering length of stay, and improving patient & family satisfaction while improving operational and financial efficiency for the hospital. Our program success relies on strong team building strategies within the ICU, the hardwiring of best practice evidence base protocols and streamlining the delivery of hospital wide critical care services
HCA Healthcare Intensivist Services employs over 300 physicians and 200+ advanced practice providers in 50+ programs across the country. Our physicians have the ability to impact change on a national scale through our association with HCA Healthcare. The access to data on a large scale allows us to test and implement new models of care and management for the best interest of our patients and physicians.
What is an intensivist?
- A fellowship trained physician who is board certified in the subspecialty of critical care medicine
- A physician who is board-certified in emergency medicine and has completed an additional critical care fellowship
- A physician who is board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, anesthesiology, medicine-pediatrics, or surgery and has completed training prior to subspecialty certification and who has provided at least six weeks of full-time ICU care annually since 1987.
- An acute care trained Advance Practice Provider who is experienced in Critical Care diagnosis, management, and proficient in critical care procedures
